Our Motto: be strategic, be nimble, be creative! Our Board level workgroups incorporate savvy business leaders, smart folks from our Advisory Council and devoted Forward Stride volunteers.
Our leadership brings solid professional skill sets which offer a unique depth and breadth of expertise. The Board of Directors is comprised of members who boast national, as well as local, board experience. The Directors help guide the organization to a high level of effectiveness and maintain thorough oversight.

Board of Directors
Robin Cook (Chair) volunteers every week alongside our physical therapist, Laurie Schick. A long time Forward Stride friend and an avid horse woman, Robin is grounded in the healing power of animals. Her previous career was as a professional violinist in Boston playing with the Esplanade Pops and touring with Phantom of the Opera. She returned to Portland in ’98 to play with the Oregon Symphony, and is currently a Realtor with the RE/MAX Equity Group.
Frank Dufay was awarded the Mayor’s Spirit of Portland award for City Employee of the Year. His role as a “change agent” for the City of Portland is supported by a Masters of Public Administration from Lewis & Clark College. Frank currently manages the taxi and towncar industries for the city, has worked on transparency issues for the Auditor’s Office and sat on various community boards. Frank tends “to get passionate about what I do…I think Forward Stride is an exciting program that is ready to move to the next level.”
Halle Hutchison oversees brand positioning, identity, and brand advertising & media for Expedia.com, the world's leading online travel company. With 20 years experience in brand development, engagement and expression for international and Fortune 10 companies, Hutchison is responsible for Expedia's brand communications strategies. Prior to joining Expedia, Hutchison led the advertising and brand expression team at T-Mobile USA. Halle comes to Forward Stride to boot-up with “a powerful, passionate group of people dedicated to unleashing the full potential of this amazing organization!".
Rena Snyder is senior manager for Portland General Electric and brings management skills, fundraising experience and organizational planning to Forward Stride. As owner of Spring Creek Lipizzan’s, she “knows the kinship a horse provides and the powerful connection to such a large animal!” Rena’s extensive community leadership includes a six year term as President of the Board of Directors for Columbia County United Way and chairing a Special Olympics golf tournament. Rena received the first ever “Manager Excellence in Diversity Award” in 2003 in recognition of her commitment to diversity in the work place.
Amy Van Camp is a strategic communications consultant who specializes in event production, campaign management, message development and community outreach. What interests her about Forward Stride? “The people ... from the staff to the clients, from the partners to the parents. The direct impact the organization is having in bettering the lives of these folks in the here and now. The potential of helping to grow the organization thoughtfully and courageously.”
