Cowgirl of the Year, Sharon Harmon -- Executive Director, Oregon Humane Society.  

Executive Director for OHS since 1998, Sharon has more than 30 years of progressive shelter management experience. She is the Chair, National Federation of Humane Societies and a recipient of the  American Veterinary Medical Association Humane Award. Harmon, a California State and Oregpn Humane Agent, is nationally recognized for innovative facility design and program development.  She earned a BS Zoology, Pre-Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Business and Management from Johns Hopkins University. 


Past honorees have included pinot pioneer Susan Sokol-Blosser, philanthropist Arlene Schnitzer, Governor Barbara Roberts, and Peggy Fowler, former CEO of Portland General Electric.

Our Hippotherapy Program offers people of all ages, children as young as two, and their families uniquely powerful therapeutic sessions on horseback with licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists.

Our Therapeutic Sport-Riding Program helps children and adults of all abilities develop horsemanship skills, fitness, and self-confidence.
