At Forward Stride, our #1 core value is to strive to be brave. We've learned this from the kids and adults in our program. They demonstrate bravery day in and day out. Within our organization bravery has many dimensions, which drive our approach to quality, ethics and compassion.
Forward Stride's therapeutic equine program is the dynamic
capstone of the Center where our comprehensive classes
embody the goals associated with physical and animal-assisted
therapies. At our facility riders and horses connect in powerful
ways, inspiring riders to transcend the psychological and physical
impacts of their medical issues.
Founded in 2003, Forward Stride is Oregon’s only comprehensive, nationally accredited therapeutic equine center. Forward Stride has obtained Premier Accreditation status through the industry’s professional organization – the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). Premier Accreditation is the highest possible level of accreditation and ensures that our instruction, safety, and programming are of significant quality.
Additionally, Forward Stride is a member of the National Standards for Excellence Institute. The Standards for Excellence Institute is committed to raising the level of ethics and accountability in nonprofit organizations. Based on the core values of honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, compassion, and responsibility; The Standards for Excellence serve as a model of how well managed, responsibly governed, nonprofit organizations operate.

The Power of Collaboration…

Forward Stride's founders, including instructors Amber Henneck and Kris McCarthy, in the spring of 2003.
It is not enough to simply have a good idea. Forward Stride believes that nonprofit organizations need to be about great ideas and their effective implementation. To this end,Forward Stride relies upon a variety of gifted community leaders. We enjoy numerous pro bono contributions of time and talent from professionals across the spectrum of operations.
For example, our horses receive professional donations from 7 veterinarians, farriers, equine massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and rehabilitation specialists. We also partner with community organizations, regional health care providers and educational agencies in order to bring high quality services to our community. With a committed Board of Directors, talented staff members and numerous volunteers helping to bring the unique mission to life, Forward Stride is poised to become a leader in providing therapeutic recreational services.
